TE ROTI.

PRESENTATION GATHERING

A pleasant little gathering took place at the Te Roti School on Friday afternoon when local parents and friends assembled to- bid farewell to . Miss Barnett, the head teacher, who is resigning her position on account of her forthcoming marriage. During the time Miss Barnett has been at the school she has earned the esteem qf all by her whole hearted interest in the children .and. also her Willingness to help in local affair®. On behalf of the Te Roti residents, Mr. W. Parish, chairman of the school committee, eulogised Miss Barnett’s excellent service® and remarked on her valued help to the school committee. He then presented her with a .silver afternoon tea service and half a dozen silver afternoon tea spoons. Mr. Hooper, on Miss Barnett’s behalf, thanked all for the splendid gifts and said that she would always remember. the pleasant time she had spent at Te Roti. Miss Barrett also presented Miss Barnett, on behalf of the children, -with half a dozen stainless dinner knives'.

All joined in singing “For She’® a Jolly Good Fellow.” After the presentation. the gathering -adjourned to the hall for afternoon tea-.

EUCHRE PARTY.

The first of -a series of euchre parties will be -held on Tuesday, May 10. The committee is working hard to make t-lie affair on outstanding success and firistclass points prizes a-re to be given. A dance will follow each party.

PERSONAL.

Mr. Ted. Hurley, who has had a severe attack of gastric ’fine is now on the mend. The large number of Mirs. Fred. Cleaver’® friends in this district- will regret to hear that -she i® an inmate of the Hawera Public Hospital.
