FARMERS’ UNION.

AYOMEN’S DIVISION

Th© South Taranaki branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held its usual monthly meeting in the Eltham Borough Council Chambers on Thursday a fair number of members attending. The membership now totals 35.

A shop day was decided on as a means of raising funds for the bush nursing scheme and other expenses.

On Thursday Mav 19 a sale of country goods will he held. A number of subjects were sent from the union’s office at Wellington for discussion at the meetings, The badge for the Women’s Division was approved. The Davlight Saving Bill was disapproved as being detrimental to country women, who have already too long a day. The question of medical amd dental inspection of countrv school children was discussed, and the following resolution was adopted: “That this meeting of the W.D.F.U. strongly urges that the Department of Dental Hygiene provide dental and medical service for the rural school children in the same manner as provided for town children, bv the adoption of the caravan system.) . • , Various competitions were arranged for the shop day.
