OPUNAKE.
(Prom Our Own Correspondent.)
CONCEPT. A most successful concert organised by Miss Brunette, in aid of the Tennis Club funds, was held on Wednesday in the New Theatre, which was well filled with an enthusiastic and appreciative audience. The programme, which was a varied one, was excellent, the daneng by soloists and ballets boing of high order. FOOTBALL. The Opunake senior team secured a comfortable win over Waimate last Saturday. The strong cold wind did much to spoil the game from a spectacular point of view, yet it was interesting throughout, and a closer game than the score indicated. The local team’s weakness appeared to be lack of combination in the backs. The individual play was there, and after one or two matches together the backs should work well. The forwards, as usual, were first-class, their work in the loose being especially good. GENERAL.
