EARLY QUOTATIONS
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 11.30 a.m. to-day. LONDON, May 3. At the wool sales, 11,500 bales were offered, comprising a poor selection, including many second-hand parcels from Bradford r on which reserves have been fixed above March rates. Consequently a fairly large quantity was withdrawn. The attendance was moderate 1 a.nd allround competition prevailed. Merinos, best shafty, sold on parity with March closing rates; medium faulty, par to five per cent, cheaper; crossbreds firm at March rates; lower grades five per cent, cheaper; slipes were unchanged and were occasionally in the buyer’s favour. Lambs, best, were unchanged, and faulty five per cent, cheaper. New Zealand clips, Waikameoa., sold at 17d and 16d. Longhorn 23id and 23d. Australian Press Association. —“Sun.”
