The Florence correspondent *f the “Daily Mail” says that, acting on information from Athens, the police raided premises occupied by r the associates of an international gang of forgers, and arrested ten who were engaged in the. production of English bank notes, and confiscated machinery ancl bank notes to> the nominal value of £300,W0. The branch at Athens was also raided. Forty persons were arrested, and large quantities of Egyptian and English bank notes were seized. The notes were packed in small barrels labelled “lard.” and were abouiPto be dispatched to accomplices at Hamburg. It is calculated that altogether the gang circulated English bank notes to the nominal value of £3,000.000. —Sydney Sun Cable.
