ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FELL OVER A CLIFF,
(BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL, April 27.
Martin Ford, aged 26, a single man employed at Port Craig sawmill, left on Sunday to walk through the bush track to Tuatapere. As he failed to arrive a search party was formed and his body was found at the foot of a cliff. Apparently he had tripped on the narrow track and fell down a steep gully.
FATAL MOTOR CYCLE ACCIDENT.
INVERCARGILL, April 27
Two young men named Frank Lee and James McKay, were pillion-riding on a motor cycle along North K7ad last night, when they collided with a cow. Both were admitted to hospital, but Lee expired within a few hours. McKay is suffering from concussion, but his condition is not serious.
SUDDEN DEATH IN MOTOR LAUNCH. NELSON, April 26. The sudden death occurred to-day of John William V. Claridge, aged 55 years, an old resident of Richmond, in unusual circumstances. Mr Claridge was in his motor launch of Saxon’s Island when he must have had. a seizure The launch was seen from the .shore steering an erratic course and eventually it ran aground on amudbank with the engine still running. Those attracted by the launches movements found Mr Claridge dead. At the inquest a verdict of heart failure was returned.
