Trans-Atlantic flights promise to outrival Channel swimming this suimuer. Thus far plans are maturing for eleven attempts to cross from Pans to-New York and vice versa. 'These include French. Polish, Belgian. American and English pilots. Some intend to compete for the Oi trig prize of £SOOO for the first direct flight betwen the two points named. A gioat .difficulty is the weight- of p.trol •nccossaiy, and tome machines will weigh live Loirs when fully loaded. Tests show that some competitors are capable of flying for 45 hours continuously at an average speed of 90 miles per born*. It is expected that those starting from- New York will have the advantage of favourable winds. .
