BOXING.

McDonald defeats casey. (by telegraph—press association.) GREYMOUTH, April 23. In a. boxing contest of fifteen rounds between Lachie McDonald (11.7) and Harry Casev (10.6) last night the bout went the full distance, McDonald gaining the decision on full points after an interesting bout. The- winner was superior in the second half of the fight scoring at in-fighting. The loser, however, 'showed effectively with lefts, but the right hand was injured in the early stages and this probably handicapped him. In an amateur bout, Purton (New Zealand flyweight champion) was defeated by Hawes over four rounds, the latter’s extra weight telling in the latter stages. Duggan (9.3) refeated McDonald (9.3) in another amateur contest of four rounds.
