The sports ■were run for many years prior to the war, hut were then closed down until [April, 1921, when they were revived. In 1921 the 20 guinea cup, which had been won by Air R. Crocker, Normanby, before the war, was won outright by him with Braemar. Another cup .was then purchased, and* Air George Smith, previously huntsmiah for the Hunt Club, won "it in 1922 with Muritai and in, 1923 with Black Night, the cup thus becoming his property. For the following year, 1924, another cup was purchased, and Air C. Paterson, Kapuni, won it ■ with Glen Royal, in 1925 by Mr Mercer’s Gilgai. and. in 1926 by Mr Higgie’s Gravitate. The cup has to lie won twice in* succession or three times at intervals. At the present time three owners have a win each to their' credit, and should Mr Higgie win it on May 4 the cup will become, his property. A seven-a-side football tournament is being held in conjunction, -with the sports this year, and this will add to the popularity of the meeting. Other events include tug-of-war, foot races, and classes for uility horses and dairy cattle. General entries will close on April 27.
