JAPAN’S POLICY.
OUTLINED BY NEW PREMIER. HER ATTITUDE TO CHINA. BY CABLE —PRES? ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. TQKIO, April 22. Mr Tanaka, the new Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister, in a written statement says : The chief aim is to clean up the difficulties prevailing in economic circles and to renovate the* administrative methods. _ The foreign oolicy is chiefly concerned with China.. ~ Japan syrnapthises wit a the Chinese people, and is determined to help them to attain their aims, but these, aspirations should) be attained by appropriate, means. ' Mr Tanaka believes that the Chinese do not wish to endanger the present relations between China and the Powers, while the Powers do not appear averse to acceding to the legitimate demands of the people. Regarding Communist activity in China, Japan can hardly remain indifferent, as she is vitally concerned with the ©reservation of peace in the Orient, which is most deeply affected by the results of such activity.. Japan is ready to co-operate with the Powers after considering the particular ] i oblems involved at the appropriate time in appropriate measures. He was confident .that this stand would be well understood by her neighbour Russia.
