A remarkable feat was achieved at the South Taranaki howling tourney by Mr S. Parkes, of the Park Club. Though a man of 73 years, Mr Parkes played throughout a strenuous series of contests, and his consistently good leading Avas such that ai fellow-iplayer said he wa.s largely responsible for the IPa.rk rink’s success. At the presentation ceremony the good play of Mr Parkes was acknowledged bv hearty applause from the whole gathering.
