Official reports from Nanking state that after the formation of his Cabinet, Chi an g Kai shell intends to continue his campaign against the north. He has not changed his view regarding Chinese militarists and foreign imperialism. Chiang Kad.shek does not expect forceful action from Hankow, as he has more than three hundred thousand troops immediately available. The new Government desires friendship with all countries, but insists on an abrogation of unequal treaties.
FIRING ON SHIPS CONTINUES.
FORTS IN ACTION. RUGBY, April 19. According to the latest advices from China, Tifle-shooting on ships is taking place from both banks of the Yangtsze seven miles above Nanking. The Roman Catholic mission at Hwangcliow has been looted by the peasant union. At Wuhu the Recreation Club was partially looted by soldiers on Sunday. There is general activity at the forts below Ghingkiang. A Chinese cruiser exchanged gunfire with the Siloa Island * forts, and the Chinese flagship engaged a battery on the north shore. The flagship was hit below the bridge and badly damaged.
IvAISHEK’S OPPORTUNITY. LONDON, April 20. The Paris newspaper “Quotidien” states: “The rupture between ChiangKaishek and,the extremists gives England a means of using Chinese nationalism to attack the Soviet. The future will show whether he will remain faithful to Sun-Yat-Sen’s democratic principles or use his military prestige. to make himself a feudal dictator like Chang-Tso-Lin. ”
SOVIET DEMANDS REDRESS

MOSCOW*, April 20. Ckang-Tso-Lin’s reply to the- Soviet s protest against the Peking raid defends his action. He says that he is not prepared to accede to the Soviet’s demand for redress.
