PRINCESS BETTY
FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY
CELEBRATIONS AT WINDSOR. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT’ Received 11.50 -a.m. to-day. LONDON, April 39. Certain pathos attaches to Princess Betty’s first birthday party -at Windsor Castle on Thursday, though it will he the centie of a real fairy tale party in a glittering -palace and nothing will be denied -her. Her Royal mother and father are absent in Australia and her Royal grandparents are compelled to be absent at Cardiff for the opening of the Welsh National Museum, hence the party will be a. small affair, consisting of her wee important seif, two or three little boy cousins -at present staying at Windsor, Master George and Geua-ld LasoeHes and perhaps Lady Ramsay’s small -son. They are certain to- appreciate the cake more than Princess Betty. However, she is a- bright and observant specimen and loves bright prtty things, with which her room is surrounded. In appearance and mannerisms she greatly -resembles the Duchess. It is known that a- very special sui-pri.se packet has just been landed from Australia, carrying the fond mother and father’s loving wishes. Stacks of others have also- arrived from all parts, some from their Majesties Earl and Lady Strathmore, Prince of Wales, a>s well as lots- of other uncles and aunts. Royal and otherwise.. Princess Mary's sons are making their first present to their little cousin. Special photographs are being taken to send to the Duke and Duchess of York, while a special birthday bulletin is being wirelessed to Australia.
