SOUTH TARANAKI TOURNEY. W. GRANT (PARK) CHAMPION RINK. The final for the South Taranaki bowling tourney was pniyed this afternoon between \Y. 0 rant (Park) and Paterson (Patea), ending a victory for Grant bv 20 to 9. brant, for whom F. Quin skipped with J. Goodwin as substitute, early went away with the lead, and, helped by a five on the second head, kept soring well, and at the fourteenth was 17 to 5. They went on by singles tid at the 18th it was 18 to 9 in Giant’s favour. In t,.j 20th Parkes led , remarkably well, as he had done all through, while Patea were not playing so well as usual. Paterson played a great spoiling game, trying on two leads to cut out Park, but despite this the latter more than held their own, and as tb'*- we. c eleven ahead the last head was not played. _ The final -score wta>s therefore W. Grant (Park) 20 v. W. Paterson (Patea) 9. The personnel of the teams was: Park.—W. Grant («), F. Quin (3). A. Murdoch (2). S. Parkes (lead)—with Quin skip in the last lour matches and ,T. Goodwin substitute as number 3. Patea.—W. Paterson (s), P. Bourke (3), Delargev (2), Mercer (lead). PRESENTATION. At the conclusion the trophies and medals were presented by Mr. J. Foy on behalf of the executive, to the winners and file runners-up. Hearty cheers were given for them both, for the veteran lead S. Parkes, and for the ladies, who had provided afternoon tea during the whole tourney. CAM HR!DGE TOURNAMENT. BY TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL TO THE STAR. CAMBRIDGE. April 20. In the Cambridge howling tournament the final was commenced late yesti.rdav and was completed this morning. Don Lewis (Cambridge) defeated Bel] (Harhilton) bv 22 to 15. This is Cambridge’s first win in the loea.\ tourney, and the victory was very popular.
