GOLF.
TiAWERA LADIES’ CLUB. The programme of the Hawera Ladies’ Golf Club for the 1927 season will oiian on the 6th May with .the first monthly medal round. This is to be followed on the 13th by the first round of the Tonks rosebowl competition', on the 20th by a bogey competition for a trophy presented by Mrs Meuli, and on the 27th by the first day of a three day medal competition for a trophy presented by Mrs Little. The first two rounds of the Tonks rosebowl competition are to be completed by the June 30. It lias been thought wise to bring this competition an tar'y in the season to avoid clashing with the championships towards the end.
An adjustment of the par is necessary in view of the alterations at the Ist, 2nd and 16th holes. The new par is not yet to hand, but the handicap manager, Mrs Thomson, will accept cards meantime and hold them until the- par is settled. Fixtra scores and scores for the McLean memorial bowl may therefore be banded in at any time.
Players sliouikl- note that the secretary of, the L.G.U. lias advised, that handicaps in medal and bogey matches are in future to be the same, there being, in bogey competitions, no .reduction to 3- of modal handicap asheretofore. Handicaps in match play, however, will still be- worked as in the past. OTAGO TOURNEY. DR„ K. ROSS CHAMPION. After an interesting match in the final with J. D. Dick, K. Ross won the amateur championship, three up and; two to play. The conditions were not good for golf, a high wind, blowing most of the- time.
