HAWERA JUNIOR BAND.
SOLO' COMPETITIONS A .solo competition among members! of -the Ha.Arera Municipal junior band was held last evening in the- foaudroom. The bandsmen werp divided into two grades, ten .competing in each. Mr. H. C. A. Fox AA’as adjudicator, and at the conclusion gave a detailed criticism of each performance. The medals Avhieh were awiarded to the Avirmer in each group Aveix? presented by Mr. Ei. Gould, bandmaster, who intimated that he would donate two trophies for a* similar competition in a month’s time. The results were: First Grade.—O. King (flugle horn), “At Dawn,”. I; G. Rowe (euphonium) “Reverie,” 2; 0. Hawkins (flugle horn) “The Lost Chord’.’ 3. Second Grade.—K. Gould (cornet) “The Lost Chord” 1; G-. Parkinson (cornet), “My Old Friend John” 2; R. Hawk-ins (tenor horn). “He wipes the Tear,” 3.
