THE FINAL GALLOPS. NOTES FROM 7- ELLERSLIE. (BY TELEGRAPH' -PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, April 14. The weather was fine lat Ellerslie this morning for the final gallops, but owing to- a fog it was impossible to time a number of horses from the four and five furlong posts before breakfast. However, it cleared after an interval. All the fast work was done on the outside of the course proper, tbiee, trestles out from the rails and there were some smart performances. Rapine was in front of Joy King over .six furlongs in 1.1.8 1-5. They started Horn, between the five and six furlong posts and were well in their stride when they reached the sixth peg, otherwise Rapine, who is not as quick a. beginner as Joy King, would have lost ground at the start. Both impressed by the manner in which they galloped. Reremoana was far too good for Lady Desmond, beating her easily at the end of seven furlongs, run in 1.32 3-5. Cimabu© was sprinted, but owing to atmospheric conditions, be could not be timed. The same remark applies to Gold Fern.

Master Doon and Archibald ran a round in 2.6 2-5.

Thiswas' a' good gallop. Civility finishing in front. Sir Rosebery and Day Bed went seven furlongs in 1.34 4-5. The latter appears to have, got over the kick - received during the week.

Gascony ran five furlongs in. 1.5:1. Damians. Thaw, and Covent Garden ran. four furlongs in 49 4-ssee.

HAWERA TRACK WOWRK. (By “Limited.’’) The Hawera horses accepted for Friday with the exception of Avola left by early train this morning. J. Fryer took a big team, eight, in number, and should not return without collecting a stake or two. Pnitomi, Tip Tree, Bevis, and Monsogne will be fancied by the local punters. Partaga and. The Lamb look possibles in their events. Reremoana. Lady Desmond * and Silvovmino should worthily hold Unworn ’s end up at Auckland on Saturday. The trotting meeting to he held on Saturday and Monday promises to be the most successful yet held by the club. Record fields are promised, and the class of horses engaged guarantees great contests.
