The need of preserving the volcanic hills around Auckland for the use of the people anil the liene 1 . it of posterity, was urged by the Mayor of Mount Eden, Mr. E. H. Potter, when speaking at the opening of the new tea kiosk on Mount Kden on Saturday, (“New Zealand Herald”). All these hils, he said, would lend themselves to wonderful 1 andscape treatment. Mount Albert, it was true, had been practically destroyed, and could never be replaced, but others could be saved, and thev would become invariable assets. He hoped what was being commenced at Mount Eden would be done in connection with the other remaining volcanic hills.
