A deputation representing the JDutiedin .Ueturned Soldiers’ Association wailed on tlie Defence Minister today. voicing dissatisfaction regarding liio ipiality of artificial limbs being supplied to limbless men It was stated ihot a circular hud been sent round to limbless men in Dunedin, and of 14 replies, only a portion were in favour o ! the type at present in use. The Minister said it was the department's one object to do the very best it could for limbless men. Its policy had been to try to find one standard limb that was better than anything else, and concentrate on that. It was also desirable that tile limbs should be turned out by one factory, as that made lor better service. Although it wished for only one type, that did not prevent the department supplying special types to special eases. Mo complaints had been received by the depa itmcnt from Dunedin, and ii would have been better if those who were dissatisfied had adopted the course of approaching the- department with a view to having their complaint remedied. The company supplying limbs for the past t.hiec tears had made inquiries Irom 180 limbless men. Of UI replies, only 14 were unfavourable. He won!ti be glad if members of the deputation would go througn the specifications- lor The new supply of limbs with an officer of the department, and point out where they considered the speciiica t ions were at fault.
