FARMERS’ SPECIALS.
TARANAKI TO. WAIKATO
The .success of the farmers’ special train from Waikato to Taranaki fast year has prompted the Railway Department to run a “tanners’ special” from South Taranaki to Hamilton during the forthcoming Waikato Winter Show. The train will leave Hawera on May 31. The innovation, says the “Auckland Star,’.’ was made at the suggestion of the secretary, Air. \Y. H. Paul, and finalised last week by representatives of the department. The trip has been arranged to. further the aim of enabling the farming community of one district to .see. for themselves the conditions existing- in another: As there will be many important gatherings connected with produce marketing, etc., in addition to the attractions of the great exhibition,' the trip will be very opportune. One “special” will leave New Plymouth calling at Inglewood, .Stratford, Eltham and Hawera. The other will leave Napier, calling at Hastings, Waipawa, Waipukurau, Dannevirke, and Woodville, and connect with the Taranaki “special” at Alarton, picking up passengers at Otaki, Levin, Shannon, Palmerston North and Feilding, and another from Alasterton and P'ahiatua will link up with the “special” at Alarton. The Hawera “special” will also carry passengers from Pa tea, Waverley, Waitotara and Wanganui. Stops will be made at the chief stations on the Alain Trunk to pick up settlers and their families. Special fares have been arranged and tickets will be available for 14 days. Agricultural instructors will deliver lectures in the train.
