At the inquest held at Kamo to-day info the death of George Welsbv, a veterinary surgeon, who committed suicide this morning by shooting himself. Mr. T. H. Levin, 8.M., found that deceased had died of a. bullet wound, self-inflicted while in a state of mental depression. Deceased, who was 40 years of age, had come from England four years ago, and was formerly well-to-do. During the war ho served in the veterinary corps of the French army, and held tlu- rank of captain.

FELL FROM. CAR. AUCLAND, April 0. While on his way homo as a passenger in the late Ponsonbv tramcar. at an early hour this morning. Alfred Author, tram conductor, fell from the car and suffered head injuries. The accident occurred at the foot of College Hill. Author was removed to the Auckland Hospital, where he died last night.
