PUBLIC SCHOOL ENTERTAINMENT The entertainment held in aid of the Public School Tennis Club’s funds on Friday, April S, was most successful.
Early in the evening the Hawera Pipe Band paraded in the streets, and the Alanaia Bra-ss Baud played se'ections in front of the hall.
'fjie following contributed to the programme Song-s, Misses M. White, Miss Johnson, Messrs Simpson, Badland .Forrester and the Rev. Mr-Smith, Masters K. Davis and D. Jones; part song, the Silby children; elocution, Airs Twaddle , Air Forrester; piano solo Aliss E. and -Master W. Dakers; pipia duet, Alessr-s Henson and Pickering; Highland dancing, Miss Nairn. Items were also given by the bands. After the concert, the decorated supj>er baskets weer auctioned, and produced a considerable sum. The dance was well patronised, and several Highland dances were especially appreciated. Alusic was supplied by Air Abbott. Considerable credit for the success of the entertainment was due to the promoter, AH G White, junr., and the various committees, which were as follows :—Ladies Alesdames J. Young, J. Dal v e-i's-,. AL Davis, C. Sproul, J. AleDon aid. S. Jones. Saddler, and T. Hotter. Boys: G. White (chairman). K. AlcDonald and G. Edwards.
It is estimated that the net profit will exceed £2O.
