IN HAWERA COUNT!'

The following ligures relative to the collection of rates in the Hawera county, up to the end of the financial year, which closed on March 31, were submitted to the council at its monthly meeting on Saturday by the clerk, Mr. .J. W. Harding, and were eonsideiod to be satisfactory: The total rates struck with regard to Europeans amounted to £24,114 6s yd, of which £23,034 4s 7cl (95.52 per cent.) had been paid, leaving £IOBO Is 8d outstanding. Native rates struck amounted to £836 16s 2d, and £387 16s 81 (46.29 per cent.) had been paid, leaving £448 19s 6d outstanding. Details of the figures for the individual ridings are as follow: Hawera Hiding.—European : Struck £10,759 2s 3d, collected £10,049 4s Id (93.1 per cent.), outstanding £739 18s 2d. Native: Struck £424 14s 2d, collected £l7O 15s 6d (40 per cent.), outstanding £253 18s Bcl. Mokoia Hiding.—Europeans : Struck £8997 2s 9d, collected £8507 14s' Id (94.5 per cent.), outstanding £489 8s Bd. Natives: Struck £174 10s Bd, collected £9O 7s 4d (51.7 per cent.), outstanding £B4 3s 4d. Ararata Hiding. —Europeans .
