PALMERSTON N„ April- 7. Frank Dean and Joseph Daniel Carthy were arrested to-day on, ,a charge: of using their -premise® a,® 'a common gaming house. They were remanded to appear on Monday next. Bail was allowed. WAIItOA, April 7. Everybody’s Theatre, a large wooden building on the North Clyde side of the town, was burned to the ground early this morning. The theatre was used for pictures and a dance: hall by -E, Mun.ro. A card tournament was held last night, but- everything appeared safe when the caretaker locked up shortly after midnight. The- fire had a good hold and the building was doomed when the brigade arrived. Nothing was saved. Fortunately there was no wind, otherwise a large block of buildings would l have gone. The building was owned by Maloney’s l Estate. AUCKLAND, April 7. Stanley Keeble Clark, aged 32 years* was charged with, having wilfully set lire to a house in Newmarket owned by Harold Denton. He pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial. , AUCKLAND. April 7. . Bolton.' one of the victims of the explosion at the ‘ Drury tannery this Ihormng, died on the way to the Auckland hospital. There is no change in Donald’s condition since admission to the institution. ASHBURTON, April 7. Leslie Thompson, a musterer at Mount Potts, aged 32 years, slipped on the snow and fell Over a cliff, a fracture of a leg resulting. He lay fo* sixteen hours in the snow before being discovered and- admitted- to the hospital. He is progressing favourably.
