Dr. R. G. B. Sinclair left. Hawera. by car this morning for Wellington. He xpects to return on Friday. Mrs Ward, wife of the proprietor of the Zetland Hotel, Christchurch, and her daughter, Miss Ward, stayed overnight at- the Egmon.t Hotel, Haweirn, and left, this morning for Christchurch. At a -recent practice of the- Hawera Municipal Band, the trophy donated by Mr. B. C. Bennett for the bandsman showing most progress was awardee} to Bandsman K. S. Croucher, who, after only 12 months’ work with his instrument. secured second p’nce for tlv?. bass trombone solo championship at the Wellington contest recently.
