STOCK RETURNS.
ALLEGED FA LSIFTCATI ON. DALGETY AND CO. CONCERNED. (BY TELEGRAPH ‘PRESS ASSOCIATION. ) GISBORNE. April 4. The case in which Thomas Brosnahan and his son, Aloysios Geo. BrosnaJian, were charged with having in the past' two years obtained by alleged false stock returns, advances from Daigetv and Co.. £798 and £376 respectively. was continued to-day. the following additional evidence being given : Herbert Boland Williams, auctioneer for Da getvls, said lie found only 176 sh.ep on making a muster. Heath Johnston, accountant for the firm, stated that advances made to Biosnahan on stock returns furnished to the firm totalled £798. Detective McLeod produced in evidence a statement by the accused, which stated that the counting of the stock was left to his two .sons, he relying upon: them for the figures. He admitted his son. Aloys ins George, had also furnished false r. turns in December, 1926, at his instigation. . The accused reserved his defence and was committed to the Supreme. Court for trial, bail being al'owed. Tn the case against_Aloysius George Brosnahan. similar evdence was tendered. Th? mortgage over the .stock to the firm was over 736 sheen and 70 cattle, hut on a muster being made no sheep were found on the property. The accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Sunrcem Court for trial, bail being .Flowed.
