MID-WEEK FOOTBALL.

CITY CLUB. ANNUAL AIEETING. The annual general meeting of the City Football Club was held last evening, the retiring president, Air D. Strachan, presiding over an attendance of about a dozen members. REPORT. Under the heading of the “Season’s Record,” the annual report stated that the City team had been runner-up for the Wednesday competition, had won the Elgar Cup competition, and had been runner-up at the seven-a-side tournament held at Patea. In the competition matches, of nine played rhe team had won seven and lost two. The club had 19 playing members during the season. Fortunately only one a-cident had occurred in the field, and the insurance fund had only been drawn on to the extent of £3. The cluli’s finances were in a satisfactory position. Towards the end of the season Air A. Elgar had taken over the duties of secretary, and to him thanks were- tendered. Appreciation was expressed to the' retiring officers ; to the ladies who financially assisted the insurance fund, and provided jerseys for the team as a result of a series of dances; to the coach. All* A. Elgar; to the Rugby Union ; and the press. During the discussion which followed on the reading of the report and bal-ance-sheet, Air Elgar announced that very few of the vice-presidents nominated at the last annual meeting had supported the club, and lie suggested that instead of electing a number of vice-presidents tickets should he prepared and sold at a feel of, say, os, which would permit the member free admittance to the competition matches.

Air Straehan agreed that the scheme was a good one, and when general business was being transacted Air Elgar’s suggestion was adopted. The report was adopted.

In the course of his report. the auditor drew attention to the decline of members’ subscriptions. Air Elgar pointed out that the number of playing members had fallen. The chairman remarked that only half the members had paid their .subscriptions. OFFICERS. Office-bearers for the current year we re elected as follows: Patron, Mrs CL H. Gibson: president. Air A. Sutton ; vice-president. Air L. Bryant; treasurer, Air J. Gallagher; lion, '.surgeon. Dr. R. G. B. Sinclair; auditor, Air C. J. Cummings; secretary, Air F. Hart; delegate to the AVednesday Rugby Union. Air A. Elgar: management committee, Alessrs A. Carncross, A. Alcßeth. L. Bryant, G. Mclntyre, AY. Ritter ; club captain. Air R. Goodwin ; selectors, Messrs A. Elgar and •T. Gallagher.

GENERAL. The following new members were elected: G. Mclntyre, H. J. Kelson, R. Radford. R. Barron. A. Carnoroiss. In view of the fact that the club’s account at the Post Office Savings Rank was difficult to handle, it was decided to deposit the club funds with the Commercial Bank of Australasia, and the president and treasurer were authorised to operate the account. Air Elgar suggested that two teams should he selected with a view to giving a number of young players an opportunity of getting regular games, and so maintaining interest in the club. This course was decided upon. The opening day was fixed for tomorrow. when a practice match will ho held. Appreciative reference to the excellent services of the auditor, Air Cummings, was made, and it was decided to grant him an honorarium. The subscription was fixed at 5s for A team members and 2s 6d for junior pi a ve rs . Votes of appreciation were accorded to the retiring president, and to Air Elgar for the use of his rooms for I committee meetings. I
