■ —£ * VISIT OF CANADIAN TEAM. The growth of Soccer in this district has been most marked, but has shown most strength in one or two of the smaller centres. Actually Manaia and Auroa have thrived best. It is worth notice, however, that the most prominent are the boys who have come recently from Home, where, of course, .Soccer is “the” game in the realm of i football. It is extraordinary the rum* [ber of North Country men there are | playing the game. Their influence has i been a great lever in pushing forward the Soccer code. The annual meeting of the Association in Stratford was noteworthy in that it was the first occasion on which delegates from North Taranaki have been present, and their support should be a great strength to the game in Taranaki. The visit of the Chinese team to Now Zealand, in the course of which they played at Hawera, gave a great fillip to the game, but latterly Hawera has not been quite such a good centre. However the executive hope it will revive. The Canadian visit will add one more fillip to the game, and while it is good to see that a match will be played in Taranaki—New Plymouth, on May 25 it would have been better to see one I also at Hawera. The visitors will play Wanganui on May 25, Wellington, June 5 and 4, and the tests as follow: Dunedin June 25, Christchurch July 2, Wellington July 9, and Auckland July 30,
