WHERE CARS COME FROM.
KEY TO NEW NUMBER PLATES. REGISTRATION RUSH. Yesterday the orange and black, number plates for motor vehicles came into general use in the Dominion ar at least almost so, for a few of the older type still remained. The last few days of March provided a busy period for the officials of the Postal Department who were assigned to the work of registration, for, notwithstanding, the many requests made for early application for the new plates, many owners left the matter until the last few days and heaped upon the officials such a deluge of work that they were almost unable to cope with it. Even the municipal authorities engaged in the. distribution of drivers' licenses dealt with many applications. Particular interest centres on the location of cars bearing the new plates, and below is given a list of numbers issued to the various chief post office disAuckland, 1 —20500. Thames, 20501 —24000.
