It is reported from the Wairau bar that Roy Lyles, aged 24. a fisherman, married, was lost off a launch whilst trawling in Cloudy Bay this afternoon. The man was alone at the time on the launch, which was found following an erratic course with the trawl still out. No further particulars are to hand, FRACTURED SKULL. INVERCARGILL, March 3i. Arthur C. Garrick, a returned soldier living alone, fell down a flight oi stairs early this morning and was removed to the Southland Hospital (suffering from a fractured skull. He .succumbed to his injuries this evening. PINNED UNDER A TREE. PALMERSTON N., March 31. C. H. Powell, a farmer residing at Bunnythorpe, was caught under a failing tree, and pinned to the ground. He is suffering from a fractured leg and shoulder. After receiving medical attention lie was admitted to hospital. FOUND DROWNED. CHRISTCHURCH, March 31. Janies Johnston Golclough, aged 69, was" found drowned in a little creek not far from his place of residence at Belfast to-day. Colclough had left his house apparently in usual health, and. when he did not return, a search was made, and the body was found in two feet of water. At the inquest, the coroner, Mr Mosley. S.M.. found that death was due to* drowiring, but there wa.s no evidence to show how Colociough got into the water.
