CRASH INTO GORGE. (by telegraph—press association.) AUCKLAND, March 30. A car driven by Mr. Leslie Lees, a traveller for a tailoring firm, crashed GO feet over a gorge on the HowickWhitford Road. Mr. Lees jumped clear just in time. The car caught fire at the bottom, and was totally destroyed with £250 worth oi samples. DRAGGED IN VAIN. DUNEDIN, March .30. A man named Leslie Malvetn Karetni is reported as missing. He attended a dance at Portobello on Saturday night, and on Sunday morning some of his clothes were found on the wharf at Kaikorai. It is believed the man has been drowned, as a note attached to one of bis garments intimated that he had taken liis fife. The police and fishermen dragged the harbour in the vicinity for three days, but no body was found. MOTORS COLLIDE. WELLINGTON, March 30. Two motor oars collided to-da.v at the corner of Wi'ilis and Abel Smith Streets. One car overturned and the occupant (Mrs Fleming) was taken to a private hospital for treatment.
