ALTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. Tiie annual meeting of the Alton Football Club was Held on Friday night. Mr. A. Murphy presided. Air. i Murphy congratulated the members on the result obtained. Through the team comprised mostly young and inexperienced players they secured a win over each of the other teams except Patea, who won the South Taranaki championship. This good showing was due mostly to the painstaking coaching of Mr. Ray Nielson. With the experience gained the team should be more successful this year.

The financial position disclosed by the balance sheet showed a profit of £ls on the year’s working. This, added do the £l2 in hand from 11124 eason, brought the amount up to £27 odd. The chief receipts came from the sports (€l3) and players subscriptions (£l3 Is). The expenditure on the travelling side expenses were £lB los so it would be seen players subscriptions did not quite cover the amount. Medical expenses for injured players amounted to L~ odd. which was covered by dances held in the course of the season. During the year the club lost tin. services of the secretary. Air. Trass. whose place would he hard to fill. The sound financial 'position hail been brought about largely by his efforts. The following officers were elected : .Patron, Air Jas. Nielson; lion, secretary, Mr F. Gush. The season will commence on Saturday. April 2. with a past v. present players match. It was decided to hold a sports meeting on April 20. Afr A. J. Gibbs wa.s made a life member of the club in- appreciation of the use of his grounds.
