HAWERA OPERATIC SOCIETY.
APPOINTMENTS FOR “THE ARCADIANS.” At the monthly social evening of the Hawera Operatic Society, held at the Savoy last evening, it was announced that the following appointments for the forthcoming production of “The Arcadians” had boon made: Conductor, Mr F. IT. Ollcrenshaw; assistant conductress, Mrs M. J 7 Goodson; property manager, Mr D„ St radian; prompter, Mr B. .Toll; call stewards, Messrs Horsburgh and Spalding; stage mechanist, Mr IT. Briggs. The appointments of producer and pianisto were held over until next Monday evening. It was announced that practices would commence on April 21. The social, at which Dr «T. McGhie presided, was most enjoyable. A number of musical and elocutionary items were given. A feature of the evening was an interesting lecturette by Mr "W. S. Gibson on the subject of “Make TJp.” During the proceedings Mr 11. Taylor outlined the story of “The Arcadians.” Items were contributed as follows: — Songs, Mesdames Craig, Barringer, Miss Murdoch, Messrs W. Thomas' and H. P. Vinnieombe; recitations, Mrs Robb and Miss Instone.
