CONVENTION IN DUNEDIN. DOMINION-WIDE GATHERING. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, March 30. The Dominion convention of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was continued to-day ; The election of Dominion officers resulted as follows: President, Airs. T. E. Taylor (Christchurch) ; vice-president, Mrs. W. Hiett (Dunedin); corresponding secretary, Miss C. Henderson (Christchurch); recording secretary, Mrs. \V. Evans (Wellington); treasurer. Miss M. Lovell-Smith (Christchurch). Airs. N. Perymnn (Foxton) was reappointed editor of the “White Ribbon” and Mrs. M. Judson (Auckland) associateeditor. A remit from North Canterbury was carried, urging that in cases in which men were committed to gaol for disobedience of maintenance orders, provision should be made for their immediate employment upon remunerative work, their earnings to be applied to the maintenance of their dependents. At the instance of the Wellington union a resolution was carried asking that a free gallery he provided for women at Parliament buildings. A .second remit from Wellington, urging the inclusion of women upon juries, was also carried after a brief discussion .

A remit from Southland, recommending that motor-car drivers convicted of being drunk in charge of their vehicles should he prohibited for twelve months, and that second offenders should have their licenses cancelled for twelve months, was carried. On the recommendation of the Hawke’s Bay Union, it was decided to urge all hospital boards to establish the six-day week instead of the sevenday week, and eight hours daily, now in force for nurses in some hospitals. Palmerston North gained the banner for the greatest percentage of increase in the roll, and the largest number of members secured. The Timaru Young People’s Union was awarded the banner for the greatest increase in membership The banner for the largest membership was taken by the I\l aster ton Young People's Union. A remit from South Canterbury, objecting to the issue by post of art •■nion coupons, was carried.
