The famous airman Ungewitter crashed from a height of 4000 feet, and was killed instantly. VIENNA, March 14. \ cocktail-shaking contest was attended bv representatives from all parts of Europe, including London. A total of 115 varieties were- judged. A Germain won with a cocktail called “Valencia,” composed of two dashes of orange bitters, half a glass of orange juice, and a liquer glass of apricot brandy. „ , , , LAPAZ (Bolivia), March 14. Four illiterate natives were found guiltv of the murder of General Pando, a former President, in 1917, have been condemned to draw lots to determine which of them •shoiiTd be executed, the remainder being subject to 10, years’ imprisonment and three years’ * disciplinary confinement. All have appealed to. the Supreme Court, which has not yet announced its decision. The sentence, is based on a penal code devi.sed by President Santa Cruz early in the nineteenth century, which was an endeavour to provide ami.in.st wholesale executions of conspirators, while avoiding the danger ot making some selected prisoner a scapegoat, Several other criminals are now awaiting sentence in Bolivia under the same law, which has caused a vigorous debate during the past 10 years.
