Dickie, M.P., replying, ©poke with appreciation of the way in which members on iall sides of the House proved themselves good friends to young members. He referred to the assistance always given to farming, and to the work of the Agricultural Department, in lor warding matters relating to stock and to the land. He made reference to burning Question of dairy control, and added that he knew; something by personal observation in tho Old "Country of the difficulties besetting the holding of produce. He said he w.as isure the board would function well and do good work for the dairy fanners, lie thanked the company for the enthusiastic manner in which they had honoured the toast. “The New r Zealand Jersey Breeders Association” was given by Mr. J. B. Lawrenson. He said the association did much good for shows, exhibiting the finest dairy cattle in the world. He urged that more should he done to foster clubs, and help the boys and encourage farmers to keep boys on the farms. Replying to the toast. Air. R. Griffiths thanked the club for the work they had done during the day. IT said that if every club would do similar work, the industry would spread more widely. He said that some might think the cow to-day was not so good as that (d years ago, hut lie considered it wage! ling better in type than in the pa-t, both a,s a producer ami a breeder, t here were more standard cattle, and there was not the “tad” that used to j be tlie case. He gave- statistics referring to the breed, and assured the members that the council was out i help the clubs, iand had done so through the, A. and P. shows. “Kindred Societies”, was proposed by Air. C. H. Washer, who .said that all ©I ion Id be grateful for the friendly feeling existing between the clubs and the A. and P. societies.

The toast was acknowledged bv M cssrs. It. If. Johnson, H. O. Sampson. and A. M. Orighton. “The Exhibitors” was proposed by Mr. A. Gray and responded to bv Mr. O. McAloon. Other toasts honoured were ; “The Ladies.” “The Performers,” and “The Press.” The mover of <u toast to “The Caterers,” la well deserved tribute to the preparations made by the proprietress of the Savoy rooms. 'l'lie presentation of prizes won at the da.v’s show were made by Mr. Tl. G. Dickie, 3M.P. The list of prize winners was us below : Mr. H. R. Taylor, O. IT. Washer, 0. Me A,loon, Mrs. C. A. Evans. Messrs. W,ren Bros., S. Bennett, IT. J. Berrv, T>. O. Good son. W. Stan dish, J. S. T. Short, J. Pettigrew, T. Eraser, D. Yandlc, and H. Barr. During the evening vocal iand clocutionery items were given by Messrs. Hardenberg, Simpson, Woollett. Straclian, Morris, and Powell, the accompaniments being played by Mr. Miiller. The singing of the National Anthem concluded a. jolly evening.
