EIFFEL TOWER.
SHOWING SIGNS OF STRAIN BY CABLE— PR ESS ASSOCIATION:—COPYRIGHT. Received 9.40 a.m. to-day. PARIS, March 16. It. is reported that engineers are being considerably exercised by the condition of the Eiffel Tower, in _ which, owing to wind stresses, expansion and contraction through heat or cold, 18,000 bolts snap yearly, keeping repairers constantly employed. Engineers detect signs of general strain. Some, recommend a thin protective coating of cement.
