TOKO HILL CLIMBS.
THRILLING SPORTS. An interesting scries of thrilling hill climbing tests were, witnessed a week ago, when the Stratford Motor Cvcle Club conducted the sports at Toko on Mr. G. Gangster ’s property. A number of good times were registered: that of R. Penniall, in the open class 73-»scc) being especially meritorious: Competition was generally keen, the entries in each class ranging from 11 to 16. The tests were well conducted' and reflected credit, upon the officials of the club.
In the lightweight class, 13 riders were entered, C. Maxwell was an easy winner, his time of P. 4~ssee being 12-5 sec lower than that of .1. Ashton, who was second. T. Tooiiey was third, his time being ISlsee. The middleweight tflass for o.h.v. machines up to 3* h.p. was contested by 16 riders. The test was won by R; Penniall in Bsec, with J. Hamilton f) l-ssee) second. J. Crockett (lOsec) was third. The heavy weight test was won by L. Wann (8 2-ssec). A. W. Clone (8 3-ssec) was close in second position, and J. Crockett (lOsee) third. The open class test, contested by 15 riders was the classic event of the day, R. Penniall completing the climb in the excellent time of 7'3-ssec. H. Rowe was within a fifth of a second of the winner’s time, while L. Wann; registering 8 l-ssec, was third
