WASHINGTON .March 9

The testimony taken at .an executive session of the Senate-Foreign Relations Committee has just been disclosed. It reveals that Senator Reed took strong exception to Britain’s despatch of a cruiser to Nicaragua. He said : “I should very mucih dislike to see Britain, send a warship to Nicaragua, particularly with the consent of this Government. If we consent, and trouble arises, the first thing we know will be that Britain is there with us, and we ■have .recognised her right to he there. “If we , s ay to her: ‘Keep out!’ we will .have another embarrassing situation to put up with.” Various other members then severely criticised the American policy in Nicaragua.
