CANADIAN CONSTITUTION
INFERIOR TO OTHER DOMINIONS. AMENDMENTS SUGGESTED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHI OTTAWA, March 9. Declaring the Candaian Constitution to be inferior to those of England, Australia and South Africa, because there is no way of changing it, Mr J. 3. Woodsworth (Labour) proposed in the House of Commons to set up a special committee to consider what amendments might he made in the British North America Act, which, while conserving the principles of federation, would enable Canada more adequately to cope with complicated problems which now confront her. Among the reasons advanced for the proposal is the action of the State in preventing the enactment of popular legislation.
