It. A. Wright, when speaking at Otahuhu yesterday. “There are in New Zealand a number of cases of two teachers instructing different classes in one room, and that is educationally wrong,” the Minister said. “The reason for this lies in the fact that the department has not. been able to provide more .rooms. That position, however, must be met. We must provide the additional accommodation required in the primary schools. Which are the foundation of our education system. Necessities, must come first.”

Sharp, solicitor for the Tauranga Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce, in his opening, address, said that the people of TauUanga did not object to tiie erection of a wharf at Mt. Maunganui when trade warranted it, but contended that at the present time there was insufficient trade in sight, and there were no prospects of the •wharf being selfsupporting. On the question of representation, the town of Taurangia, which now had the same representation as Rotorua, felt entitled to another representative, in view of the fact that the harbour was inaccessible to Rotorua until connected by ■rail, and that that district had neither imports nor exports through the harbour, iand was not liable to be rated until the connection by rail was made. The whole .day was occupied in examining witnesses for the borough.
