ACCLIMATISATION.

THE STRATFORD SOCIETY. At the monthly meeting of the Stratford Acclimatisation Society, a. suggestion. Wa-s received front Mr. J. F. Wells, of Ra,tapiko, to stock the power board’is artificial lake on liis property 7 with trout or other fish and make the •pla6e a “possible paradise” for anglers. It was agreed to obtain a selection of rainbow trout for breeding purposes to be put into the lake. It was resolved to take steps to increase the capacity of the hatcheries from 100,000 to 200,000 ova per annum so as to be able to properly .stock the lake. The need for improved fish ladders was urged and rif was stressed that every effort .should be made to cater for the large and increasing number of tourists coming to the Dominion. An open iseaison for opossum and pukeko is to be sought and the usual season for game from May 1 to July 31,
