PARACHUTE DID HOT OPEN. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIG HI Received 11 a.m. to-day. LONDON, March. 9. Corporal East, of the Air Force, while engaged in parachute drill at Biggin Hill, stepped off an aeroplane, but the parachute did not open, and he crashed to the roadway near a loaded omnibus, being killed instantly. An eye-witness said he heard the body whistling through the air.
