The latest Home Office report states that the total casualties, due to the earthquake, number 4774, of whom 1699 were killed in the Kyoto prefecture. WASHINGTON, March 9. ■Mr. D. F. Davis, Secretary for War, has cabled an offer to the authorities at Tokio of American aid in the Japanese earthquake disaster. He has also requested the American military attaches to inquire whether the United States War Department could assist.
