BURGLARY AT HOTEL. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.; DUNEDIN. March S. Burglars entered the Wharf hotel during the night and removed the safe to the .bank-yard where they chis-selled holes in the back, but failed to. get into the inner chamber. A roller top desk iu the office was also broken open and petty cash taken. METHODISTS AND MIGRATION. AUCKLAND, March 8. The Methodist Conference this morning carried p (motion which stated that while recognising the fact, that the Government is slowing down its immigration activities, in consequence of unemployment in New Zealand, it was of opinion that so long as immigration continued, the Methodist Church might be generally strengthened bv securing the nomination of suitable Methodist immigrants. In order to encourage such immigration the conference urged that quarterly meetings be held to appoint a ropresenative to canvas among the business men the possibilities of employment with a view to nomination of Methodists from Great Britain to fill the vacancies.
