BOY SCOUTS.
TROOP FORMED AT MOKOIA. A canvass of Mokoia district was recently made by Scoutmaster N. Cowie, of 'Hawera, and as a result there was a. large attendance, of settlers and boys at a meeting held' in the 'hall last evening, when a proposal to form. >a troop for Mokoia was discussed. Mr A. T. Main presided. Commissioner Horner was present, and after explaining the nature of the Scout movement in the Dominion, said that Mokoia was the first district on the outskirts of Hawera to be visited by Scoutmaster Cowie_, who intended organising troops m other centres. He would visit Mokoia once a fortnight. The appointment of a scoutmaster would! not be' made until after Easter. Scoutmaster Cowie also spoke, dealing with the organisation of the troop. The chairman said that there would be about 12 Scouts and five cubs ready to join. It- was decided, on the motion of Mr R. A. Richter, seconded by Mr L. Neithe, to form a Scout troop at Mokoia, and the following citizens’ committee was appointed: Messrs' S. Tidswell (chairman), R. A. Richter (secretary), T. E. Bickford, G. H. Quinn, R. Phillips and L. Neithe. Scoutmaster Cowie then enrolled the names of hoys present who were prepared to join the- troop.
