FARMERS’ UNION SHOW.
DISPLAY AT TE KIRI. HORSES AND CATTLE. Keen interest was evinced by the public and exhibitors to-day in the second annual horse and cattle show held under the auspices of the Awa-tuna-Te Kiri branch of the Farmers ’ Union. There was a splendid attendance and fine and cool weather favoured the occasion. Entries in every class were numerous, and the stock showed good qualty. Mr. J. Pettigrew and Mr D. Holmes, of Pihama, judged cattle and horse glasses respectively. Messrs W. W. Davidson (president) and F. iL. Street (secretary), supported by a strong executive, supervised arrangements. ■ J
Results received up to the time of going to press were:— Aged bull.—J. Phillips (Awatuna) 1, C. Thomas (Te Kiri) 2, B. Coupe (Te Kiri) 3. The judge stated that the winning animal was well sprung in rib, with a good constitution, and much better in shoulder than the second animal. The second was too flat in rib, and not filled out over the heart, and was too heavy in the shoulders.
