CITIZENS ’ SCOUT COMMITTEE The annual meeting of the Citizens’ Scout .Committee was held at Manaia the other evening. Mr. A. G. Bennett, president, presiding over a fair attendance. The balance-sheet showing a credit balance of £7 7s 7d, was read and confirmed. The Scoutmaster reported that for last year there were 26 scouts on the roll, with an average attendance of IS. A great number of the scouts, _ during the year, travelled from a distance, whiclMf owing to bad weather, affected the average. The scouts were not represented at the coastal jamboree, owing to the inability of many of the boys to attend. During the last year the work was mainly of a routine nature. Mr. Swainson as secretary was accepted with regret, and a letter is to be sent to him acknowledging his great services to the movement. The following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr A. G. Bennett; secretary, and treasurer, Mr P. F. Hammonds: committee, Mesdames Davis, Ilay tor, and Hickey, Rev. J. D. Smith, Messrs G. H. Meuli, P. F. Hammonds, S. Washer, A. G. Bennett, and J. Dakers. It was decided to ask Mr H. Clarke to act as assistant Scoutmaster. Votes of thanks to the Rev. ,T. D. Smith for acting as 'Scoutmaster and to Mr. A. G. Bennett for the use _ of his office for the committee meeting terminated the meeting.
