There was cloudy but fine weather for the Flemington races, with a satisfactory attendance, a large contingent of American from the pleasure-ship Franconia being present. The going was good. Tn the hurdle race the field was well in a! bunch at the entrance to the straight. Barbican then came away and scored comfortably. The* winner was ridden by F. Leonard. Valicare led all the way in the Lloyd Stakes. Topgallant looked dangerous at the distance, blit failed to run on. Valicare ran the last six furlongs in 1.104, last four in 471 s ee, the full time, 1.364 being only a quarter of a seVoml outside the Australasian mile record. The winner is owned by Air Pat Osborne and is trained by B. Payten. ■ Royal .Feast, after meeting with interference, won the Ascot Wale Stakes narrowly. The winner has now scored three wins, a second and a dead-heat

for second in five starts. He was ridden by the New Zealander, Maurice McCarten, and has won £6OOO in stakes. Ouragan had a big lead in the early stages of the Autumn Handicap, but. tired in the straight. The New Zea-land-bred Eridanus was fifth early in the race, but finished strongly 'and just won. The time was slow. Eridanus is trained by a New Zealander, Peter McGrath, and was ridden by W. Scanlon. Spearfcll led always in the Governor’s Plate, winning brilliantly. The horse had a great reception on returnig to scale. Ft has now won £27,173 in stakes. The results are:— Autumn Hurdles, two miles and a half. —Barbican (o.o> 1, . Cash King (11.0) 2.
