Parry Thomas’s last epic appearance at Brook land® was in October la-st, when he broke three records. He was obviously a sick man when lie went to his death. “Do you have a mascot?”/ he was a-sked just before he stepped into his car.
“No. I don’t tru-st in false gods,’’ he replied. At that moment a mechanic arrived with a black cat presented by lady motorists, which he tied to the car. Parrv was literally unwrapped from the Bairs. It was -a 400 horse-power car. and developed over 600 h.p. It had twelve cylinders and four carburetters, and did roughly 2000 revolutions. Since Campbell took the record a month ago, Parry Thomas had changed the •shape of the car and had fitted it with a new radiator. Mr Malcolm Campbell reiharked: A stout-hearted fe-llow has gone. You take your Ife in your hands in an attempt of this kind.”
